Marisa Spencer, MD
Dr. Marisa Spencer received her Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and was honored as a Merrill Presidential Scholar. She attended medical school at the University of Virginia, where she served as president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She also was an active volunteer at the Charlottesville Free Clinic. She subsequently completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and went on to do her Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Michigan, where she also was selected to serve as Chief Gastroenterology Fellow and received the prestigious Outstanding Clinician Award.
She is a board certified gastroenterologist and is an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American College of Gastroenterology. She has published multiple research papers on celiac disease and irritable bowel syndrome. She is experienced in managing all aspects of gastrointestinal and liver disease and is a proficient endoscopist. Her favorite part of practicing medicine is getting to know her patients. She prides herself on being a good listener and having a warm bedside manner. In her free time she enjoys running, music, and spending time with her husband and two children.
